About

Hi, my name is Sonali Mohapatra. I am an Innovation Strategist with expertise in quantum, AI, and space technologies. I am passionate about exploring the potential of these technologies across various sectors such as healthcare, space, pharmaceuticals, financial services, energy, and transport, among others.

Currently, I serve as the Quantum Innovation Sector Lead at the NQCC (National Quantum Computing Centre). In this role, I lead the delivery of the NQCC’s innovation strategy and user engagement framework to discover quantum computing use-cases and develop applications across different industry sectors. I collaborate with government bodies, industry leaders, academics, policymakers, regulators, and independent organizations to drive quantum innovation.

Previously, I have successfully managed large projects in the space and quantum sectors, contributing to the development and commercialization of early-stage AI-powered space and quantum technologies. One of my notable achievements includes leading the development of two of the world’s first AI-powered QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) modules for CubeSats, which will be launching in 2025.

Besides my professional endeavors, I am a columnist for ViaSatellite Magazine and a freelance writer and speaker. I have also founded and chaired various non-profits and charities, such as New Voices in Space for Space Scotland, QIndia for QWorld, and the Migrant Travel Support Network in India. Additionally, I serve as the director of the UK-wide Prospero Space Fellowship, an initiative aimed at bridging the skills and talent gap in the UK Space Sector.

Feel free to get in touch with me to discuss innovations, collaborations, or any other opportunities.
